Genci Nimanbegu was born on 6 September 1971. He graduated from primary and secondary schools in his hometown of Ulcinj. He started his graduate studies at the Faculty of Economy in Dubrovnik, however, due to the war in the former Yugoslavia territory, he was forced to end his studies there and continue them at the Faculty of Economy in Podgorica, where he graduated.

From July to December 1997, he worked as an associate of the CEO of “Primus elektroniks” company in Ulcinj.

During the war in Kosovo, Mr Nimanbegu founded and led “Drita” humanitarian organisation, formed in Ulcinj with the goal to provide care and help to the refugees from Kosovo.

He worked in the UN World Food Programme (UN/WFP) from June 1999 until the closing of the mission in Montenegro in March 2004.

In April 2004, he assumed the role of the CEO of the “Ulqin Business Association” (UBA). The number of members of this association grew from 60, which it had in 2004, to 280 it has today.

In 2005, with a group of Albanian intellectuals and patriots from Ulcinj, he participated in the creation of the Albanian Party Forca e Re Demokratike, and he was elected its Vice President.

In the parliamentary elections of 2009, he was elected Vice President of the Parliament of Montenegro, and re-elected in 2012 and 2016 elections. He is currently a Vice President of the Parliament of Montenegro.

He is a member of the Committee on Tourism, Agriculture, Ecology and Spatial Planning and the Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget, as well as a member of the Permanent Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly since December 2016.

In 2013, he was elected President of the Albanian National Council in Montenegro.

In addition to his mother tongue - Albanian - he has active knowledge of Montenegrin (Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian), English, Italian and also has basic knowledge of French.

He is married to an academic painter Vahida, with whom he has two children Lisa and Joni.
