Branimir Gvozdenović was born in 1961 in Bar. He graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Podgorica. He began his professional career in the Secretariat for Development of Montenegro, in organisational affairs, where he coordinated a young team of experts which, in the 90s of the past century, initiated the IT development of Montenegro on the new ICT platforms. He was later appointed as the Assistant Secretary at the Secretariat, and in 1999 he was elected Executive Director of the Post Office of Montenegro.

He became Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Economic Development in 2001, and he performed those duties during three terms of office. In that period, he was the President of the Municipality of Bar for 18 months. In the following term of the Government, he was the Minister of Economic Development. Following the parliamentary elections of 2009, he was elected Minister of Spatial Planning and Environment and he exercised that office until the end of 2010.

From February 2011 to December 2012 he exercised the office of Political Director of the Democratic Party of Socialists of Montenegro. In the period from December 2012 to November 2016 he exercised the office of Minister of Sustainable Development and Tourism.

During his career, Mr Gvozdenović, among other things, was the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Elektroprivreda Crne Gore and a member of the Management Board of the PE PTT of Montenegro. He was one of the initiators for holding of the Festival of IT Achievements (INFOFEST) as the most significant regional ICT manifestation, as well as a series of projects which yielded concrete results with regard to the development of the country.

He was elected member of the Parliament of Montenegro several times.

He is a member of the Presidency of the Democratic Party of Socialists.

Furthermore, he is a member of several associations and thematic societies. He is a President of the Assembly of the Women’s Handball Club “Budućnost”, and he also exercised the office of the President of the Assembly of the Handball Association of Montenegro and of the Chairman of the Management Board of the Women’s Handball Club “Budućnost”.

His professional affinities relate to the intensifying of economic and democratic development, as well as the acceleration of the process of European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Montenegro.
