Member of the Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget Ms Ana Nikolić took part in the Conference devoted to presentation of the Strategic Development Plan of the State Audit Institution (SAI) of Montenegro for the period 2018-2022, organised by the SAI in cooperation with SIGMA (Support for improvement in Governance and Management - a program to support management and governance improvement, funded by the EU to support candidate countries in the public administration reform efforts).

During the conference,  opened by the President of the SAI Senate Mr Milan Dabović and SIGMA's representative Ms Bianca Breteche, it was pointed out that by the Strategic Development Plan for a five-year period, the SAI obliged to further improve the communication policy with the relevant stakeholders, the quality of audits, the development of new types of audits in accordance with international standards, monitoring the implementation of audit recommendations, human resources management and the use of modern information technology in order to increase the efficiency of the SAI operations.

MP Nikolić stressed, among other things, that the Parliament of Montenegro, i.e. the Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget, had very good cooperation with the SAI for many years, especially in the part relating to the consideration of the final budget statement, as well as to the topics in the focus of the SAI, the public and the parliamentarians.  She expressed the expectation that the ambitious Strategic Development Plan of the SAI for the period 2018-2022 and the activities of the DRI in the forthcoming period would significantly contribute to improving the control of the spending of public funds, through increasing the quality of audits, in particular the audit of success and through improvement of cooperation with the Parliament and its working bodies, through the announced protocol on cooperation between these two institutions, which would introduce an even more dynamic relationship with regard to the exchange of information and joint activities.

Aside from representatives of the SAI, SIGMA and Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget of the Parliament of Montenegro, representatives of the Government of Montenegro, the civil sector and professional associations participated in the conference.
