Secretary General of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr Aleksandar Jovićević, and his assosiates, visited yeasterday and today the Upper House of the Italian Parliament (Senate) for a working visit. Meeting was held as part of the visit with the Secretary General of the Italian Senate, Ms Elisabetta Serafin. The interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the meeting and pointed to the importance of cooperation and exchange of experiences between the two parliaments. They exchanged information regarding the organisation and manner of work of the services, as well as the experience in part relating to administrative support to the legislative process.
The delegation also held meetings with heads of departments for research, protocol, public relations and media, budget offices and others. On several occasions, the importance of research work in parliament has been underlined as a support to MPs and the overall strengthening of the legislative and oversight role of parliament. The parliament staff was taken on a tour around the Senate Library and got acquainted with the activities that the Italian Senate has been undertaking in the field of familiarising younger population with the institution.
The visit was organised as part of the OSCE Support program to the Parliament of Montenegro in the area of strengthening its administrative capacities.
