Friendship Group of the Parliament of Montenegro and Parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany today held a meeting with Ms Kerstin Radomski, Member of the Bundestag.
Head of the Friendship Group of the Parliament of Montenegro and Parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany and Vice President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Genci Nimanbegu stressed the importance of the International Parliamentary Scholarship (IPS) awarded by the Bundestag, where MP Radomski is a member of the commission for selection of candidates. He estimated that this scholarship was an exceptional opportunity for learning about German parliamentary system and acquiring practical experience in this field.
They particularly emphasised the importance of learning the German language in Montenegrin schools and expressed concern about the reduction in the number of classes of the second foreign language in schools. In this regard, a suggestion was made that schools should organise additional classes of German, on a voluntary basis, if there are legal possibilities for doing so.
Emphasising that it was extremely important to further promote cooperation in the field of tourism, Ms Kirsten Radomski was interested in economic areas where German investments would be particularly significant for Montenegro. With the emphasis on the contribution already provided by the German Development Bank (KfW), the following were sigled out as areas that would be the most attractive to investors: energy, water supply, transport and wood industry.
Vice President Nimanbegu expressed his gratitude for the contribution of the German Embassy in preserving the environment, and especially in protecting the Ulcinj Solana. He expressed hope that the current ambassador, as well as his predecessor, would support our country in such significant areas.
Also, the meeting pointed to an open question regarding the German refusal of the Montenegrin request for mutual recognition of driving licenses, and expressed the expectation that this issue would be resolved in the shortest possible time, to the satisfaction of a large number of emigrants from Montenegro who live and work in Germany.
The meeting was also attended by German Ambassador to Montenegro H.E. Hans Günther Mattern, Head of Human Resources Department in the Bundestag Ms Daniela Rosenthal, as well as members of the Friendship Group of the Parliament of Montenegro and Parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany Mr Miodrag Bobo Radunović and Mr Ervin Ibrahimović, who participated actively in the meeting.
