Vice President Gvozdenović holds a meeting with Ambassador of Georgia

Cooperation within friendship groups as contribution to continuity of good relations

Vice President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Branimir Gvozdenović and Head of the Friendship Group with the Parliament of Georgia today held a meeting with the non-resident Ambassador of Georgia to Montenegro based in Budapest H.E. Mr Zaza Kandelaki.

Vice President Gvozdenović and Ambassador Kandelaki exchanged opinions with regard to further development of inter-state relations, especially via the parliamentary cooperation mechanism within friendship groups which exist in both parliaments. Having in mind the newly formed Friendship Group with the Parliament of Georgia, Vice President Gvozdenović pointed out that conditions were created for an improved model of parliamentary cooperation which reflected good and friendly relations with Georgia. In that respect, it was pointed out that the results of cooperation of friendship groups between the parliaments could give an additional impulse and energy to the overall bilateral relations.  

Ambassador Kandelaki especially pointed out the significance of Montenegro’s NATO membership for Georgia, which is aspiring towards integration into the Euro-Atlantic political and security structure, and he pointed out the significance of exchanging information and experiences of Montenegrin Euro-Atlantic integration. Special interest was shown in the role of the parliament and contribution which the Parliament of Montenegro had given during the process of integration into the North-Atlantic Alliance.

At the meeting, they exchanged views on the areas of common interest for both countries, especially experiences regarding the development of tourism industry, perspectives of further investments in tourism, tourism innovation, as well as steps towards connecting the two cultures and peoples.

The meeting between Vice President Gvozdenović and Ambassador Kandelaki was also an opportunity to discuss numerous current issues significant for the European perspective of the two countries, but also global challenges and preservation of peace and stability as preconditions for the overall economic and social prosperity.
