The Friendship Group of the Parliament of Montenegro with the Parliament of Palestine has met with Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Montenegro Mr Rabii Alhantouli.
Head of the Friendship Group of the Parliament of Montenegro with the Parliament of Palestine and Vice President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Branimir Gvozdenović pointed out that Montenegrin authorities regularly followed internal developments in the State of Palestine and the region. He said that Montenegro remained committed to observing the international law and practice and expressed hope that progress would be soon made in resolving the ongoing conflict between Palestine and Israel.
Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Montenegro Mr Rabii Alhantouli voiced his pleasure with the forming of the Friendship Group with the Parliament of Palestine, emphasising that that was a significant step in institutionalising the cooperation between the two countries. In that regard, he announced the forming of the Friendship Group with the Parliament of Montenegro in the Palestinian National Council.
Mr Alhantouli commended Montenegro’s efforts on harmonising Montenegrin legislation with the European acquis, especially in the fields of human rights and economy.
The key topic of the meeting was the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and in that regard they pointed out the necessity of the support of the entire international community in resolving this issue, as well as the willingness to end the conflict with peace negotiations.
The interlocutors voiced their expectation that traditionally good bilateral relations between Montenegro and the State of Palestine would be further enhanced in the upcoming period. They especially voiced willingness to strengthen economic and cultural cooperation, as well as joint work on attracting investors from Palestine and Palestinian diaspora to Montenegro.
The meeting was attended and actively participated in by the members of the Friendship Group of the Parliament of Montenegro with the Parliament of Palestine, the following MPs: Mr Nedžad Drešević, Mr Sanja Pavićević, and Mr Momčilo Martinović.
