The ODIHR Director welcomes the readiness of Montenegro to improve its election process and offers expert assistance

In her letter to President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović, Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Ms Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir stressed that she was looking forward to continuation of the excellent cooperation between Montenegro and OSCE/ODIHR. She welcomed the continued readiness of Montenegro to follow up on ODIHR election-related recommendations through an open and inclusive process with all relevant stakeholders.

  • In this regard and within its mandate and available resources, ODIHR stands ready to provide technical expert advice to such process, including the provision of expert opinion and reviews on possible draft election legislation. We would endeavour to coordinate our activities with the OSCE Mission to Montenegro. I once again welcome the readiness of Montenegro to further improve its electoral framework and practices taking into consideration OSCE/ODIHR recommendations - says the letter of the ODIHR Director addressed to the President of the Parliament.
