The Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms of the Parliament of Montenegro organises a conference on marking the 10 December - International Human Rights Day.

The topic of the Conference is “Personal data protection in Montenegro - legislation and practise”.

Bearing in mind that the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms, in line with its plan of activities, pays attention among other things to personal data protection, both within the legislative and oversight function of the Parliament, it is significant to exchange opinions and experiences on personal data protection in Montenegro. The focus of the conference will be on the legal framework and its practical application.

The conference should confirm that only coordinated activities and multisectorial approach can contribute to affirmation, promotion, observance and protection of human rights and freedoms. Also, we think that this is the right time for reviewing the situation in the field of personal data protection given the activities undertaken towards the preparation of the new Personal Data Protection Law with the aim of its harmonisation with the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 as one of the the most complex regulations adopted at the EU level.

The conference will be held on Wednesday, 5 December 2018, at 12:00, in the Blue Room of the Parliament of Montenegro.

Aside from members of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms, the following are invited to take part in the conference: Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms of Montenegro, Deputy Prime Minister for Political System, Interior and Foreign Policy and Minister of Justice, Minister of Human and Minority Rights, Minister of Interior, President of the Agency for Personal Data Protection and Free Access to Information, representatives of the international organisations based in Montenegro and non-govermental organisations dealing with protection of human rights and freedoms with whom the Committee cooperates continuosly and in a high-quality manner.
