On the occasion of Victory Day over Fascism and Europe Day, discussion on the topic “What is anti-fascism in Montenegro today” will be held in the Parliament of Montenegro on Tuesday, 9 May, with participation of the following: Mr Živko Andrijašević, Vice Rector and full professor at the University of Montenegro, Mr Adnan Prekić, from the Faculty of Philosophy in Nikšić, Mr Slavko Burzanovć, form the Institute for History of Montenegro, Ms Jadranka Selhanović, Assistant Director of the National Archives of Montenegro as well as political scientist Mr Ilija Vujačić, lecturer at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade and University “Donja Gorica” in Podgorica. Academician Zuvdija Hodžić, President SUBNOR and antifascists of Montenegro, and Ms Bojana Madžgalj, an activist of the Young Anti-Fascists, will also take part in the discussion. Mr Dragutin Papović, historian and Member of the Parliament of Montenegro, will moderate the discussion.
President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović will deliver an introductory speech.
Role of anti-fascism in civil society will be in the focus of the discussion. Also, anti-fascism from the perspective of a multinational and multi-confessional Montenegro will be discussed as well as the challenges it faces today in our society and Europe. A special reference will be given to promotion of anti-fascist values among young people.
The event will be held in the Parliament of Montenegro on Tuesday, 9 May, at 11:00. It will last around 2 hours and it is open to media.
Previously, on the same day at 10:00, the President of the Parliament will head a state delegation in order to lay wreath at the Monument of the Partisan Fighter in Gorica.
We remind that, at the initiative of President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović, addressed to Minister of Education Mr Damir Šehović, Montenegrin schools will hold a class devoted to the 9th of May - Day of Victory over Fascism and Europe Day.
The Parliament of Montenegro has an important role in launching initiatives for addressing issues of national importance, therefore the 9 of May, the day of victory over the darkest ideology of the 20th century, but also the day when, on the grounds of anti-fascist values, the creation of united Europe has started, will be marked with a renge of activities.
