Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro composed of of Mr Andrija Nikolić, Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants, Mr Miodrag Vuković, Chairperson of the Constitutional Committee and MP Mr Danijel Živković participated in the 13th Bled Strategic Forum, which took place on 10 and 11 September 2018.
This year's forum, titled "Bridging the divide" has gathered more than 1,200 participants, and 30 panel discussions were organised on the topics such as - the future of the European Union, security challenges, sustainable development, climate change, as well as the impact of scientific and technological advances on contemporary society.
The Bled Strategic Forum was opened by introductory remarks of Mr Miro Cerar, Slovenian Prime Minister and Karl Erjavec, Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. It was pointed out at the opening of the forum that the world has changed dramatically in recent years, and that multiculturalism is seriously jeopardized, which requires joint efforts to bridge all divisions and achieve stability and sustainable development.
Panel “Western Balkans: Lost Years or New Hope?” drew particular attention of the participants. The panel pointed to the need for resolving all bilateral disputes in the region, which is necessary for achieving and maintaining stability in the Western Balkans. The agreement reached by Macedonia and Greece, which should be confirmed in a referendum soon, was especially welcomed. The panellists jointly assessed that during the past years, the Western Balkan countries achieved significant results on their European path, but that reform processes should be even faster and more dynamic.
The 13th Bled Strategic Forum was concluded by remarks of Mr Andrej Logar, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, who expressed satisfaction with the held discussions and announced that the 14th Bled Forum will be held on 2 and 3 September 2019.
