Chairperson of the Committee on Political System, Judiciary and Administration Mr Željko Aprcović, member of the Committee Mr Radule Novović, Secretary General of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Aleksandar Jovićević and Committee staff paid a study visit to the Sejm of the Republic of Poland.
On day one of the visit, the delegation had an opportunity to meet representatives of the International Affairs Bureau and Analytics Bureau, and to learn about their work. Experiences and challenges of the Polish Parliament in the accession process were in the focus of these meetings. Also, professional help to MPs was discussed, in the form of making and giving opinions on various acts that are being considered and passed by the Polish legislature.
The first day of the visit also included a meeting of the delegation with Mr Stanislaw Piotrowicz, Chairperson of the Justice and Human Rights Committee, when the presidents of the two committees discussed the reform of the judiciary, the manner of election of members of the Judicial and Prosecutorial Council, as well as the entire system of organisation in this important area.
On day two, the delegation met Mr Arkadiusz Czartoryski, Chairperson of the Interior Affairs Committee and Mr Andrzej Maciejewsk, Chairperson of the Local Government and Regional Policy Committee. Separate meetings were focused on topics related to the work and organisation of the state administration, with a special emphasis on the role and work of the police, as well as the territorial organisation of the two countries and models of financing local self-governments.
During the study visit to the legislature of the Republic of Poland, Secretary General of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Aleksandar Jovićević met Secretary General of the Sejm Ms Agniezsk Kaczmarsk, and the interlocutors spoke about responsibilities of their offices.
Also, the delegation met Mr Grzegorz Matusiak, Chair of the Montenegro - Poland parliamentary Friendship Group and Mr Jan Dziedziak, Deputy Chairperson of the European Union Affairs Committee.
The study visit was concluded with a meeting with Deputy Minister of Justice Mr Łukasz Piebiak, which took place in the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Poland.
The visit is organised with the aim of exchanging experiences and strengthening cooperation between working bodies of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland and Committee on Political System, Judiciary and Administration of the Parliament of Montenegro having similar jurisdiction, as well as for the purpose of improving the knowledge and practice of the Secretariat of the Committee.
