Head of minority parties’ MP Group Mr Ervin Ibrahimović today has met Head of the EU Delegation to Montenegro Mr Aivo Orav, on the occasion of establishing the temporary Committee on further reform of electoral and other legislation.
MP Ibrahimović emphasised that the establishment of this Committee was another step forward on Montenegro’s European path.
- All initiatives aimed at the improvement of electoral legislation will have a genuine collaborator within the Bosniak Party, while all initiatives contrary to the Constitution of Montenegro and other international standards that our state has adopted and which are being harmonised with the EU acquis in line with our accession negotiations as well as those initiatives that have the intention of abolishing the law of affirmative action for the representation of minority peoples will not be supported by the Bosniak Party, Mr Ibrahimović said.
In addition, Mr Ibrahimović emphasised the important role of the EU Delegation to Montenegro with regard to its support in the negotiation process, confirming the Bosniak Party would have its representative in the said Committee.
Ambassador Orav stressed that the temporary parliamentary committee had an ambitious agenda and that the EU would monitor closely its application. He underlined that it is important that all political parties take an active part and constructively contribute to the work of this parliamentary body, and that political dialogue should be led in the Parliament, where it belongs.
In conclusion, the interlocutors agreed that the temporary Committee should produce results of its work as soon as possible, respecting the principle that the quality is more important than the speediness.
