Visit of high school students within the Civic Education Week

A group of high school students visited today the Parliament of Montenegro, within the project of Civic Education Week, organised by the Montenegrin American Youth Alumni Association.

Students learned about the history of Montenegrin parliamentarism, its competencies and functions, as well as the organisation and work.

They were particularly interested in the work of the working bodies and the procedures preceding the discussion at the Parliament sittings. The visit also went on about the publicity of the work of the Parliament and the manner in which the media, representatives of the non-governmental sector and citizens could be informed about the work of the Parliament.

The project of Civic Education Week that the Montenegrin American Youth Alumni Association had organised with the aim to inform Montenegrin high school students, offering visits to state institutions, media and non-governmental organisations and with appropriate lectures, about the development of democracy in Montenegro, the processes through which Montenegro had passed, civic activism and the role that every active citizen in the society needed to play, in order to contribute to the development of the country.

The visit of high school students was organised as part of the Parliamentary program Open Parliament, aimed at bringing the institution closer to the citizens, especially young people, thus directly extending their knowledge.
