At the invitation of the Vice President of the Parliament of Montenegro and the Head of the Friendship Group with the Parliament of the Republic of Poland, Mr Branimir Gvozdenović, the Polish delegation, headed by Mr Grzegorz Matusiak, paid an official visit to Montenegro in the period 23 - 26 July 2018.
- The results that Montenegro has achieved since the restoration of its independence had made our country not only a member of the NATO alliance and being on the doorstep of the European Union, but also the one to have continuously contributed to the stabilisation of the entire region of the Western Balkans, Vice President Gvozdenović emphasised.
- The friendship groups, as a unique form of cooperation, manifested through direct communication of parliaments, is a very efficient mechanism for the improvement of existing friendly and traditionally good relations between Montenegro and Poland, Mr Gvozdenović added.
Head of the Polish Friendship Group, Mr Grzegorz Matusiak, emphasised that strengthening of parliamentary cooperation was one of the pillars of bilateral relations, noting that the Republic of Poland has remained strongly committed to supporting Montenegro on its way to the full membership in the EU, bearing in mind its progress so far in the negotiation process and successful implementation of reform processes in the country.
The Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants and member of the Friendship Group, Mr Andrija Nikolić, emphasised that the very foreign policy has been one of the most successful state policies in Montenegro. Additionally, Mr Nikolić expressed his belief that the Republic of Poland would continue to provide expert and technical assistance through the transfer of experience and knowledge regarding the integration processes of our country into the European Union, with the expectation that Poland and other EU members would know how to appreciate the individual efforts and results of acceding countries and Montenegro as their leader in the region, the fact supported with the number of open negotiation chapters.
The head of the Polish delegation, Mr Matusiak, sent an invitation to the Vice President Gvozdenović and other members of the Friendship Group to pay an official visit to Poland and thus continue intensifying cooperation at the parliamentary level, which, as the interlocutors agreed, would create a stable foundation and a quality prerequisite for strengthening cooperation in the field of economy, energy, tourism and culture.
The meetings have been attended and actively participated in by the other members of the Friendship Group, Ms Marta Šćepanović, Mr Zvonko Vuković, Mr Momčilo Martinović and Mr Miloš Nikolić.
