The Vice President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr Genci Nimanbegu, hosted the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Montenegro, H.E. Mr Gregor Presker. On this occasion, he expressed gratitude for the continuous support that friendly Slovenia has provided to Montenegro on the path to Euro-Atlantic integration.
The upcoming parliamentary elections were also the topic of conversation, for which Vice President Nimanbegu expressed his belief to be held in a good atmosphere and would result in the continuation of Euro-Atlantic policy in Montenegro. When it comes to participating in the elections, he expressed his view that all of the opposition would participate.
In an open and friendly conversation, Vice President Nimanbegu informed the ambassador about the challenges that existed for Montenegrin society and assessed the Euro-Atlantic perspective of our country as indubitable.
Ambassador Presker was also interested about the challenges the Albanian community in Montenegro had been facing. Therefore, Vice President Nimanbegu informed the Ambassador about the legal provisions of the electoral legislation, expressing his opinion that he was not satisfied with them, and that he, as the only legitimate representative of Albanians in the Parliament of Montenegro, constantly tried to amend them, but lacked the support of other political parties.
Vice President Nimanbegu and the Ambassador Presker agreed that the European Union should be more agile with regard to the Western Balkans and their clearly expressed position on European integration.
Finally, the interlocutors talked about the possibility of even better economic cooperation, especially in the field of tourism and environmental protection, with visible common interests of these two friendly countries.
