President of the Parliament hosts new Head of the UNICEF Office

The presence and activities of the UNICEF in Montenegro are very important, bearing in mind the support of this organisation in promoting and protecting children's rights and creating environment for healthy development of every child, President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović and new Head of the UNICEF Office to our country Mr Osama Makkawi Khogali have concluded at the meeting.

President Brajović expressed confidence that the successful joint activities would be continued in the future, as well as that the implementation of the Cooperation Program for Montenegro for the following four years would contribute to the upgrading of the results achieved so far in the area of child protection, social inclusion, and quality education.

The new Head of the UNICEF Office to Montenegro has congratulated on previous successes and devotion of our country to reforms in the field of social and child protection, and stressed the importance of cooperation with the Parliament of Montenegro and its relevant committees. He announced that the UNICEF Office to Montenegro would count on even greater support of the Parliament and its President personally, as well as that he would initiate more active cooperation with parliamentary committees, involved in monitoring of children’s rights and their improvement.

They also talked on a number of continuously successful campaigns in Montenegro, which, among other things, have helped to ensure that phenomena such as peer violence are not ignored, but discussed, seen as undesirable by broader community and that we are working on their elimination.  

The interlocutors agreed that use of global experiences from 192 UNICEF states could be precious for Montenegro.
