President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović and his colleague Mr Ma Peihua, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) of the PR of China, who heads the delegation of this country in an official visit to Montenegro, visited the works on construction of the highway - the tunnel Klopot and the bridge on Moračica. Parliamentary delegations met with each other during the construction of highway, which has started in May 2015, by the Chinese company CRCB.
First of all, President Brajović and the high guest from China laid a wreath at the monument of engineer Lazar Jaukovic at Đurđevića Tara, who had participated in the construction of the bridge, where he lost his life in 1942 after he destroyed an arch of the bridge in order to prevent the transfer of enemy units to Montenegro.
Statement by Mr Brajović:
- This visit of the high Chinese delegation headed by Mr Ma shows that outstanding political relations between Montenegro and China result in exceptionally successful economic cooperation. Today we firstly visited the bridge of Đurđevića Tara, for which the Chinese government has allocated more than 2.5 million euros, primarily for the reconstruction of that jewel.
After that, we visited some points at the highway Bar-Boljare, the most significant historical infrastructural project in Montenegro. I proudly emphasise that I conceptualised and started, together with my associates, the implementation of this historic project. Of course, I had an absolute support of the previous Government, headed by PM Đukanović, and today I am pleased by the fact that the current Government and the Ministry of Traffic and Maritime are praising the continuation of the implementation of this project.
What I consider the most important is creating preconditions - and some of these have already been created - for starting the construction works at the continuation of the highway, which implys initiating the works on section Mataševo-Andrijevica, even before the section Smokovac-Uvač- Mateševo is finished. This will be the best indication of how devotedly and seriously we are accessing to this project, both us and CRBS and everyone involved. This will be the greatest guarantee of security that the largest infrastructural project will be implemented within the best possible timeframe.
Statement by Mr Ma Peihua:
- I am very pleased to head today a delegation of the National Committee of the People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and that we all together, with the President of the Parliament, can see how the works are progressing. We are truly surprised, this great project of our governments and companies reflects not only traditionally good and brotherly relations between our two states, but also emphasise the importance of mutual assistance. This highway project is significant for the entire road network and regional connectivity in the Balkans.
We witnessed that our Chinese engineers and other workers are doing their job according to the plan and according to the European standards and requirements of the Government of Montenegro. Our companies carry out many projects in China, with technical pre-conditions similar to those in Montenegro. Therefore, they have the knowledge, confidence and ability to meet the anticipated requirements regarding the deadlines and quality of the works.
I am convinced that by the joint efforts of our governments and our companies, the project will be successfully implemented, to the well-being of Montenegro and China.
Tomorrow (Monday, September 25), a delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro will meet in Villa “Gorica” with delegation of the CPPCC of the PR of China, and President Brajović and Vice Chairman Mr Ma Peihua will give press statements after that.
