Mr Brajović - Mr Pacolli: Relations taking an upturn should be translated into stronger economic cooperation

Montenegro and Kosovo have all preconditions that relations of these states follow an ascending path, and they should be translated into economic cooperation with stronger infrastructural connectivity - President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović stated together with First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo Mr Behgjet Pacolli, who is paying an official visit to Montenegro.

On the topic of demarcation with Kosovo, President Brajović said:  “The Parliament of Montenegro has ratified the Agreement on Demarcation, respecting what was signed. For us, the issue of demarcation is finished. Everything that was happening in Kosovo in the previous period regarding this issue, we see as an internal issue of that state.”

They stressed the importance of further strengthening of parliamentary relations, both through cooperation of parliamentary bodies and friendship groups.  The meeting with the Friendship Group was also attended by Vice President of the Parliament Mr Genci Nimanbegu and Chairperson of the Administrative Committee Mr Luigi Shkrela.

The interlocutors also spoke about integration processes in the Western Balkans, noting the Montenegro’s admission to NATO sent a strong message that open door policy and transatlantic cooperation remained high on the agenda of the Alliance. Speaking about European integration, they emphasised the importance of keeping the regatta principle, by which the progress of every state is measured on individual merits and capability to fulfil criteria for the EU membership. President Brajović stressed that Montenegro would continue to provide support and share its experiences from integration processes with all the states with such interest.
