The empty chair system yields no results

President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović today has conversed with the French senator Ms Helene Conway-Mouret, whom he informed about the current political and economic situation in the country, as well as about the progress achieved in the field of European integration.

President Brajović especially referred to the upcoming work of the working group which would consider the implementation of recommendations from the Final Report of the OSCE/ODIHR Observation Mission aimed at further improvement of electoral legislation.

Pointing out that the empty chair system was not the one to yield results, senator Conway-Mouret voiced her lack of understanding for the non-participation of the opposition in the work of the Parliament of Montenegro and its working bodies, especially bearing in mind that all reports by international observers had given a positive assessment of the elections.

Montenegro’s NATO membership was welcomed at the meeting, and they jointly emphasised the significance of strengthening the European Union, while strong support of France to the European ambitions of our country was confirmed.
