During the meeting of the President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr Ivan Brajović, with the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Mr Ivica Dačić, a mutual commitment was noted for the development of good relations between Montenegro and Serbia, which was significantly contributed by frequent meetings of officials at the highest and high level.

  • During the exceptionally successful visit of the delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro to the Republic of Serbia in October last year, meetings with the President of the National Assembly, the President of the Republic, the President of the Government, the First Deputy Prime Minister and the highest officials of the provinces, we concluded that good political relations, strengthened by common European goals and regional context, made us commited to more intensive cooperation in the fields of infrastructure, tourism, culture, economy as a whole. The positive outcome of the realisation of our projects should be felt by all citizens of both countries - President Brajović said.

The co-operation within European integration was also discussed at the meeting, the advocacy for the principle of assessing the individual progress of states, and encouraging messages from EU and officials of Bulgaria, the country currently holding the presidency, that 2018 was key to the countries of the Western Balkans.

President Brajović disapproved of the act of violence in which the leader of the Civic initiative "Freedom, Democracy, Justice", Mr Oliver Ivanović, was killed and expressed hope that negotiations would continue between Belgrade and Priština, despite of the tragic event.
