Mr Brajović and Ms Jakab on measures to protect public health

President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović has met Director of the World Health Organization's Regional Office for Europe Ms Zsuzsanna Jakab, who is paying an official visit to Montenegro.

President Brajović said that the results achieved so far, in cooperation with the WHO, were the basis for intensifying the expert support aimed at improving the overall health system in Montenegro. He emphasised that the state remained focused on improving public health in the process of implementing the UN Agenda for Sustainable Development. President Brajovic also emphasised that the Parliament of Montenegro, as the umbrella legislature, and a direct representative of citizens, played an important role in preventing harmful effects on the health of citizens through the adoption of adequate legal solutions.

Director Jakab praised the contribution of Montenegro in promoting the work of the South-eastern Europe Health Network (SEEHN), as well as the programs of cooperation among small countries. She expressed expectation that regional platforms for resource mobilization and exchange of knowledge and experience would be used in defining and providing an effective and sustainable response to the common challenges faced by the health systems of the WB countries.

Miniser of Health Mr Kenan Hrapović also attended the meeting.
