- Montenegro and Macedonia are natural regional partners, with good political relations and numerous possibilities for strengthening economic cooperation – President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović summed up his conversation with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the Republic of Macedonia Ms Radmila Šekerinska-Jankovska.
President Brajović emphasised that Montenegro, as a NATO member state and the first next country to join the EU, would share its integration experience with Macedonia and other countries that want to take the same path.
At the meeting, they discussed the significance that the continuous implementation of strategic policies had for the future of the two countries and the impact of clear political goals on the implementation of internal reforms.
The interlocutors also referred to the messages from the Western Balkans Summit in Sofia and pointed out the significance of maintaining the EU’s focus on the region. They agreed that the observing of the regatta principle sent a strong message, primarily to small countries, that joining the European Union depended to a large extent on the achieved results.
