President of the Parliament in an official visit to China

- Cooperation of the highest legislative bodies of Montenegro and the People’s Republic of China provides an important support to increasing the volume of economic cooperation and further development of relations in a number of other areas among the countries that cherish the winning spirit and mutual trust - this is the conclusion of President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović and Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Mr Wang Yang, upon whose invitation the President of the Montenegrin Parliament is paying an official visit to China.

With the increase of trade exchange by 40% in the previous year, the export of Montenegrin products to China was doubled, as well as the number of Chinese tourists in Montenegro.

China is building a highway in Montenegro and this is the largest infrastructural project of multiple developmental importance for our country, which, among other things, makes this friendly country one of the most important foreign and economic partners of our country - President Brajović stressed. He reminded that Montenegro was one of the first signatories and beneficiaries of the “One belt one road” initiative and mechanism “16+1”, initiated by China, whereby the aim of this long-term investment projects is infrastructural, energy, financial and cultural connectivity of the states in Asia, eastern Africa, Middle East and Europe.

Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, as China's top political advisory body, emphasised the importance of visits at the high level and the need for continuing the developing trend in the relations of the two countries. To that end, the Parliament of Montenegro is one of the five parliaments worldwide whose presidents are invited to officially visit China this year. The interlocutors agreed that Montenegro and China can be an example of good partnering relations in political and economic cooperation, regardless of the differences in size of the countries and their geographic distance.

During his visit to Chine, President Brajović will meet, among others, Chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee Mr Li Zhanshu. According to the Constitution of the People's Republic of China, the National People's Congress is the highest legislative body in the country, while the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference is the highest political and consultative body of the People's Republic of China. These two state bodies are usually gather once a year, for 14 days, known as “Two Sessions”. New leadership was elected in March of this year, and the President of the Parliament is the first Montenegrin official who met them.
