President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović today received, upon her request, Ambassador H.E. Mr Margaret Ann Uyehara. Ambassador Uyehara congratulated President Brajović on the election, wishing him success in the new office. During the meeting, they discussed the work of the new convocation of the Parliament, as well as the continuation of the European integration process. The expected ratification of NATO Accession Protocol for Montenegro by the remaining 14 member states was pointed out as a foreign policy priority.
President Brajović informed Ambassador Uyehara that restoring dignity of the Parliament of Montenegro was one of the challenges that all participants of the parliamentary life should face.
- Following my perianal experience in the legislative and executive power, I stress the great responsibility and importance of words said in the parliament and public scene in general. Messages sent by participants of political life greatly shape positions and public awareness in the state, President of the Parliament believes.
Ambassador Uyehara expressed continuous support of the United States to Montenegro towards strengthening institutions of the system, rule of law and fight against corruption.
- The participation of all stakeholders in that process is important for the benefit of citizens of Montenegro, the Ambassador pointed out.
The interlocutors agreed that Montenegro should continue strengthening its democratic capacities on the progress path in integration processes.
