President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović congratulated the citizens and the local leadership of Nikšić on their Municipality Day, marked on 18 December:

“The town below Vojnik, which has always been a crossroad of paths and interests, today as well as in the ancient times, is trying to survive and overcome the crisis faced by many industrial cities, not only in the region but also wider. Still, thanks to its economic, industrial, water, cultural and, most importantly, human potential, Nikšić has recognised its chance and it has been working continuously to revive and put into operation all those advantages that it once had, but also to identify new development opportunities. First of all, the city administration in cooperation with the state has managed to consolidate itself in the financial and public sector, and consequently to re-initiate industrial production, stimulate and support agricultural producers in the rich environment, and to attract ever greater number of young people and tourists from the country and the region by its cultural and festival events organised every summer. I believe that through continuous work and new ideas and visions of the management and of all citizens under Trebjesa, Nikšić will eventually become what it was in the past - a town that offers a secure existence and a better future to its citizens.
