President of the Parliament hosts the Lithuania-Montenegro parliamentary Friendship Group

- Montenegro highly appreciates a great contribution that Lithuania gave to us on our path towards NATO membership, which we see as the highest foreign policy success since the renewal of the statehood, President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović said at the meeting with the Lithuania-Montenegro parliamentary Friendship Group, headed by Chair of a Friendship Group Mr Gintaras Vaičekauskas.

While exchanging experiences on the accession to the EU, the Lithuanian MPs stressed that the fact that ruling coalition was supported by majority of Montenegrin citizens was very significant.

The interlocutors agreed that the enlargement and internal consolidation were two complimentary processes, which could only result in stronger Europe.  They emphasised that Montenegro and Lithuania fostered good political relations and that parliamentary diplomacy, with an emphasis on the cooperation of parliamentary groups of friendships, represented an excellent mechanism for improving the overall interstate relations.
