Collegium of the President accepts the Decision on the formation of the Temporary parliamentary committee

The Collegium of the President of the Parliament of Montenegro accepted the harmonised text of the Proposal for the Decision on the formation of the Committee on further reform of electoral and other legislation.

The Proposal for the Decision will be put to consideration as the first item on the agenda of the Third Sitting of the Second Ordinary (Autumn) Session in 2018 on Tuesday, 30 October.

In his statement to the media, President of the Parliament, Mr Ivan Brajović, said that the Temporary Committee, after it becomes operational, is to determine procedures and criteria for its composition from among the non-governmental organisations and other participants.

- We finished one big task, even though it sometimes seemed that we led too many debates over some small shifts. It is important that at this moment we have agreed upon everything, at least the majority of the members, that is, all MP groups, except one that did not participate in the work of the Collegium or the Parliament."

President Brajović said that the parity of members with voting rights coming from ruling and opposition MP groups was not crucial, because it was planned for the voting to be done mainly by consensus. In addition, the composition, the president and vice-presidents included, must be such that each MP group in the parliament must have at least one member, and the rest will be divided proportionally to the largest groups, Mr Brajović explained.
