President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović congratulated the jubilee of 75 years of State Anti-Fascist Council for the National Liberation (ZAVNO) of Montenegro and Boka and 70 years since the founding of SUBNOR (Federation of Associations of Veterans of the People's Liberation War in Yugoslavia) and Anti-fascists of Montenegro to the members of this organisation and its President Mr Zuvdija Hodžić:
“In times when in certain parts of Europe the ghosts of the greatest scourge of civilisation - fascism - are appearing, and the memories of difficult battles, destruction and victims are starting to fade, your action and persistence to never close the glorious pages of anti-fascism are serving us as an honour and a warning to uphold our tradition, remember the victims, and hold “the window of freedom eternally open” as is the motto of your celebration.
Just like on 13 July 1941, when the Montenegrin people had risen in the universal uprising against the invaders, not paying attention to divisions, and impressed Europe of that time, powerless under the boot of fascism, I am certain that even today the civic, multi-ethnic and multi-confessional Montenegro has the will, volition and democratic mechanisms to resist populist and extremist movements and to focus its capacities on the preservation of its glorious history and tradition, the fostering of diversity as the greatest value of today.
In that name, I congratulate you on two jubilees - 75 years of State Anti-Fascist Council for the National Liberation (ZAVNO) of Montenegro and Boka and 70 years since the founding of SUBNOR (Federation of Associations of Veterans of the People's Liberation War in Yugoslavia) and Anti-fascists of Montenegro, convinced that the coming generations will remember and pass on to the future generations the significance and necessity of fostering the anti-fascism heritage.”
