- Visit by the President of the Parliament to Romania contributes to further strengthening of bilateral relations of the two states, and the views that we have exchanged will also be useful for Montenegro's European path during the Romanian presidency of the Council of the EU - Romanian Prime Minister Ms Viorica Dancila stressed during the meeting with Mr Ivan Brajović.
The Romanian PM highlighted that the Western Balkans would be one of priorities of the Romanian presidency, and Montenegro may count on the support in order to make its achievements as visible as possible.
President Brajović thanked for continuous positive messages and support of Romania and its PM Dancila after her visit to Montenegro in July of this year, including the clear respect for the principles of individual achievements of candidate countries.
Similar messages of recognition for Montenegro’s achievements at the European path were heard at the meeting with the Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Teodor Meleșcanu. He emphasised the importance of parliamentary activities in intensifying bilateral relations, congratulating Montenegro on successful elections and post-election parliamentary achievements.
Summing up the impressions about his visit to Romania, President of the Parliament of Montenegro stressed that the aims of the visit to the country that would preside the Council in less than a month had been fulfilled:
- I am confident that Romania will be a true advocate of Montenegro’s interests in Brussels, because it understands very well the developments in our region and the importance of the European path of our country and the Western Balkans. All my interlocutors undoubtedly stressed the respect for regatta principle, as well as wishes to provide support to Montenegro in relation to dynamics of the overall process. Finally, economic cooperation in many fields, including energy, education and culture, as well as further increase in the number of tourists, represent the highest interest of our states and citizens - President Brajović concluded.
