President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr Ivan Brajović, extended the following congratulatory message on the occasion of 19 December - Day of Capital City:
"During pre-holiday atmosphere of New Year and Christmas, Podgorica welcomes its holiday, as it is fitted for the Capital city and the center of economic and social development, more motivated and sure of the success of its European progress.
Bearing in mind the geographical and geopolitical position imposed on the capital by Euro-Atlantic and European integrations, but also the human, economic and any other infrastructure, as well as the fruitful cooperation of local and state administration, rich international economic and diplomatic cooperation, Podgorica took advantage of what was offered, relied on its own resourses, and in a very short time, experienced an essential and visual transformation.
That is why I congratulate to you proud, with pleasure, the Day of Capital City - 19 December, and emphasise that it was not easy to become a fashionable European city that Podgorica has become – starting from the terrible destruction during World War II, then the painstaking but patient development during the second half of the 20th century, until the last decades of challenges of transition."
