- OSCE has highly appreciated dedicated participation of Montenegro and the President of the Parliament personally in the activities of this organisation, and the seriousness in considering the recommendations related to the improvement of the electoral process could serve as an example for other countries – OSCE Secretary General, Mr Thomas Greminger, pointed out today at the meeting with the President, Mr Ivan Brajović.
Mr Greminger said that the OSCE will continue with its support to Montenegro in implementing key reforms and that he expectated that all political entities would contribute to the completion of activities with the aim to improve electoral legislation as soon as possible.
President Brajović expressed his satisfaction with the continuous meetings and good cooperation with the OSCE representatives and said that Montenegro has been determined in making every subsequent election process be held in an even better atmosphere.
To this effect, the President of the Parliament reminded that the interim Committee on the improvement of electoral legislation was formed at the end of 2018, in order for the MPs of the ruling majority and the opposition, together with NGOs and the academia, to improve the election atmosphere in comprehensive manner.
Mr Brajović and Mr Greminger, who had met today for the third time, agreed that there existed lively media scene in Montenegro, and that reforms of the media and the safety of journalists should still be positioned high on the list of priorities.
The meeting was attended by the Chairperson of the Legislative Committee, Ms Marta Šćepanović, MP, and the Head of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro, Ambassador Maryse Daviet.
