President of the Parliament on the European day of commemoration of victims of the Srebrenica genocide

On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of the Parliament of Montenegro on accepting the European Parliament’s Resolution on Srebrenica crime and the Day of commemoration of Srebrenica victims, as well as all other victims of conflicts from that period in former SFRY, President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović reminded of the human and civilizational duty to remember the victims and draw clear lessons so that the wars and tragedies are not repeated:

- The compassion towards the victims and their loved ones does not weaken with the passage of time. Furthermore, there is an ever so clear need of constant reminder of the responsibility for the committed crimes, and at the same time a warning that we must constantly make efforts for the good neighbourly relations, peace and stability to undoubtedly be a long-term commitment of all policies in the region, said President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović.

We remind that 11 July was declared a European Day of commemoration of victims of the Srebrenica genocide, committed in the period from 11 to 19 July 1995. On 9 July 2009, members of the Parliament of Montenegro adopted the Declaration on accepting the European Parliament’s Resolution on Srebrenica condemning the crime in that town, as well as other atrocities committed during the conflicts in former Yugoslavia from 1991 to 2001.
