President of the Parliament with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia on strengthening cooperation on all levels

Today in Villa “Gorica” President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović has received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia Mr Sven Mikser, who is paying an official visit to Montenegro.

At the meeting they voiced interest in strengthening parliamentary cooperation on all levels, especially bearing in mind the significance of Estonian presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of this year.

President Brajović voiced his gratitude for the political and expert support given to Montenegro by Estonia in its processes of NATO and EU accession, emphasising that new member states may provide a significant contribution to vitality of the European Union.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia, among other things, pointed out that he deeply appreciated full harmonisation of Montenegro’s foreign policy with the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union. He announced further support to integration processes of our country, both in the period of Estonian presidency of the Council of the EU and beyond.

We remind that Estonia was the first country with which Montenegro established diplomatic relations after the referendum of 2006. Estonia was also the first country to ratify the Stabilisation and Association Agreement between Montenegro and the European Union on 22 November 2007.

It was concluded in the meeting that friendly relations of the two countries, based on common values, represented an excellent basis for development of cooperation in the field of education, tourism, agriculture, and economy as a whole.

On this occasion, President Brajović delivered to Minister Mikser an official congratulatory message on the upcoming Independence Day of Estonia.
