President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr Ivan Brajović, congratulated the citizens and the local government on the establishment of the Old Royal Capital – 4 January:
"The Old Royal Capital of Cetinje, going back in time of Ivan Crnojević to this day, has in many ways represented an establishment of Montenegrin identity, tradition and spirituality, and has shared throughout history all the temptations and successes of its own country. May this 4th of January remind us once again of the year of 1482, the time when the sovereign built a court and a monastery, thus building Montenegro once more. This state act has an even greater historical and symbolic significance today.
I am convinced that the Old Royal Capital faces a decade marked by rapid development in the field of entrepreneurship, tourism, art, for the benefit of the local community and to the satisfaction of an increasing number of visitors.
I congratulate the Day of establishment of the Old Royal Capital!"
