President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr Ivan Brajović, hosted today a delegation of the ALDE Group of the European Parliament, led by the President of the Group, Mr Hans van Baalen.
President Brajović expressed satisfaction with the meeting with members of the ALDE Group, which became the third strongest group in the European Parliament after the last election. ″Active dialogue and exchange of opinions and experiences between the Members of the Parliament of Montenegro and the European Parliament are of the utmost importance in strengthening our partnership. In this regard, we have been encouraged by an unequivocal support from the European Parliament to the enlargement policy, which is the best policy of the European Union, and which has to be based on the individual achievements of the candidate countries″, President Brajović said.
MEP, Mr Hans van Baalen, stressed that the visit was a confirmation of continued support for Montenegro's European path. He welcomed the notable results that Montenegro had achieved in reform activities, good neighbourly cooperation and strengthening of the democratisation of society.
The interlocutors agreed on the importance of active participation of all actors in the political scene in further improving the legislation and democratisation of society.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Liberal South East European Network (LIBSEEN), Mr Roman Jakič, Secretary-General of the LIBSEEN from Croatia, Mr Goran Neralić and the Vice President of the Liberal International from Northern Macedonia, Mr Emil Kirijaš, Member of the Parliament of Montenegro from the Liberal Party, Mr Andrija Popović and the Vice President of the Liberal Party, Ms Dubravka Vujičić.
