Communiqué by the President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović

“I welcome the joint efforts of state institutions, as well as of numerous private initiatives aimed at preserving public health. The Ministry of Health, Institute for Public Health and Government’s Coordination Body are responsible for carrying out tasks within their purview in the given circumstances, as evidenced by the fact that two people infected with the virus were detected in Montenegro only last night.

The Parliament of Montenegro performs its activities in line with the recommendations and with the intention of preserving the health of all citizens.

On this occasion, and with regard to the conversation held at the Collegium of the Parliament on 13 March, I will schedule a meeting of the Collegium for Friday, 20 March, in order to agree on the required activities and further contribution to maintaining institutional stability.

I am convinced that the new circumstances necessitate the neglect of political differences and pooling of all capacities of elected representatives of Montenegrin citizens. That is why I call for all political parties represented in the Parliament to put forward their proposals at the meeting of the Collegium instead of as public initiatives, I am certain that we agree that in this situation there is no need for any political entity to collect political points.“
