The President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr Ivan Brajović, extended the congratulatory message on the occasion of 1st May – International Workers' Day:
"This year, we are celebrating a significant holiday in the history of the labour movement and the exercise of the right to dignified work in the midst of the global fight against the coronavirus. Along with successful measures for the protection of public health, we are waging an equally challenging fight to preserve economic stability and jobs.
Through coordinated action, state institutions make efforts to alleviate the inevitable consequences for the economy and the standard of living of citizens. With the current measures and those planned, important steps have been taken to ensure social security, and by solidarity and redistribution of the burden, the state has once again demonstrated high degree of social responsibility in this field.
Although we are facing a period that will require even more patience, hard work and mutual understanding, I am convinced that we should be optimistic.
This challenging time has shown not only the necessary discipline of the whole society, solidarity and greater mutual trust, but has also created opportunities for new business initiatives. We must be their strong support, in the interest of modernisation of the business environment, better quality of life for citizens and further overall development of Montenegro.
I congratulate 1st May to you – International Workers' Day!"
