The President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr Ivan Brajović, extended the congratulatory message to the President of the European Parliament, Mr David Sassoli, on the occasion of 9 May, the Europe Day.

"On the occasion of Europe Day, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations in the time when the word is facing the biggest crisis in its recent history and when we have to prove, through our work, that solidarity, cooperation and trust are the best response for facing this challenge.

Montenegro has proved, with its timely operations, that it is able to respond to challenges fully and successfully, continuing to implement its reforms devotedly with the aim of meeting the necessary criteria for membership in the European family of nations. The Parliament of Montenegro will continue to be a credible and reliable partner of the European Parliament and other EU institutions. We believe that the European Union is the best model of togetherness and partnering cooperation for the democratic, economic and social progress of our countries.

With gratitude for the confirmation of the European Parliament on the assistance of the European Union to Montenegro and the countries of the Western Balkans, and with the desire for all of us to emerge even stronger from this crisis, please accept, distinguished President, the assurances of my highest consideration and friendly greetings."
