Mr Brajović hosts newly-appointed representative of the UNICEF Office to Montenegro

President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović today talked with UNICEF Representative to Montenegro Mr Juan Santander.

Congratulating Mr Santander on assuming his office, President Brajović expressed his satisfaction regarding the cooperation with UNICEF in the previous period and stressed that the successful cooperation would continue in the future. He pointed out the importance of UNICEF's work in Montenegro, recognised by the Montenegrin public.

Mr Brajović stressed that the Parliament of Montenegro was committed to promoting children's rights, as necessary social need and value, and informed his interlocutor about the educational program "Democracy Workshops" and "Children's Parliament", which aim to stimulate young people's interest in politics and democratic processes, and teach them about the process of passing the law and the work of MPs and the Parliament as an institution.

UNICEF Representative to Montenegro Mr Juan Santander expressed pleasure with intensive cooperation that the UNICEF has previously achieved with the Parliament of Montenegro. His said that the priority of his mission in Montenegro would be the fight against child poverty. In this regard, he stressed the key role of Parliament in protecting both human and children's rights. Mr Santander especially praised all the activities undertaken by the responsible institutions of Montenegro in the fight against Covid 19.
