The presidents of parliaments discussed the strengthening of parliamentary cooperation between Montenegro and Hesse. They exchanged views on internal political events, as well as issues of regional significance. President Brajović informed the distinguished guest on the dynamics of Montenegro’s accession to NATO and the EU.
- It is very important for Montenegro to enable its European partners, in direct contact, to create an objective image and personally learn of the situation and potentials of our country. Cooperation with Germany and representatives of its institutions, both at the federal and state level, should always be one of the priorities. I am pleased to note that Germany undoubtedly and continuously gives support to Montenegro in its integration and reform processes, said President Brajović following the meeting.
President of the State Parliament of Hesse Mr Norbert Kartmann pointed out that his visit to the Parliament of Montenegro aimed to demonstrate genuine interest of Germany and its area state of Hesse to contribute to strengthening of peace and security in the Western Balkans and security of Europe as a whole. Full support to Montenegro’s membership of NATO was expressed, and it was emphasised that the process of European integration should be further accelerated.
- Representatives of the parliament discuss various matters and issues. It is normal in a democracy that nothing can function without the parliament. The area state from which I come and the Parliament for which I stand, represent a clear view that in essence and wholeheartedly they advocate for equality i.e. enlargement and joining of new members. We do not care about the size of the country which is to become an EU member, but the message that such country brings with it. Montenegro’s accession to the EU will certainly be a good sign and an example to the region, and that is our desire. We will continue to support this, both from our position as a federal state and at the federal level, pointed out the President of the State Parliament of Hesse in his statement following the meeting.
President Norbert Kartmann used this opportunity to invite President Brajović to officially visit the State Parliament of Hesse.
