President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović today has hosted a delegation of the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO), led by Mr Gianluca Pasarelli, Professor.
President Brajović emphasised the fact that we already have a good electoral law and process, which have been further improved in the previous period. In this regard, he considers that observation missions are welcome and that Montenegro is always ready to consider their suggestions and implement them in the election legislation.
“Already in May, I sent invitations to the EP, OSCE PA, PACE, ODIHR for observing the elections, so that they can plan observation missions on time. I am glad that ENEMO will observe the elections in Montenegro for the first time, because we want to get your verification of the quality of our election process”, President Brajović said.
Professor Pasarelli stressed that Montenegro represented a benchmark for the region, especially in the context of European integration.
“The better Montenegro does in all areas, the more it will have a positive effect on everyone else in the region. Your integration into the European Union is important, both for you and for the region and the EU itself. “
Mr Pasarelli was interested in cooperation between the Parliament and the State Election Commission regarding the organisation of the electoral process in the light of the corona virus epidemic. In that context, President Brajović informed his interlocutors about the extended session of the Collegium held yesterday, where they discussed guidelines and comparative experiences on the basis of which the SEC will issue a binding epidemiological instruction, while fully respecting the fact that citizens' health is an absolute priority.
