Mr Brajović hosts the Chairperson of the European Affairs Committee of the Croatian Parliament

The example of good cooperation in the region

President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović today in Podgorica hosted Chairperson of the European Affairs Committee of the Croatian Parliament Mr Domagoj Miošević.

The interlocutors noted that Montenegro and Croatian have been continuously developing friendly relationship, based on mutual trust and respect, and which may serve as an example of good neighbourly cooperation in the region.

President Brajović expressed confidence that, regardless of the all national turbulences and challenges that the European Union is facing, it will keep highly on its agenda the enlargement policy, which is important for the Union credibility as well as for prosperity of the Western Balkans region. Montenegro remains devoted to the idea of EU membership, firmly committed to pursue its reforms, in order to finalise the accession negotiations in a good manner and thus become the next member of the EU, Mr Brajović said.

The President of the Parliament emphasised that Montenegro particularly appreciated the support which Croatia has been providing to Montenegro's membership of NATO and European Union, both in political context and by providing expert help, sharing of knowledge and experiences.

He particularly expressed pleasure to attend personally the adoption of the Decision on ratification of the NATO Accession Protocol for Montenegro in the Croatian Parliament in late November last year, and expressed expectation that Montenegro would participate as a full member in NATO summit scheduled for May.

The interlocutors emphasised that the parliamentary cooperation was meaningful and dynamic, and expressed conviction that the two parliaments will strive to establish new models of cooperation in the following period, which would additionally strengthen mutual relations, particularly in the part relating to concreate projects which can be beneficial for the citizens of the both countries.

The conversation was an opportunity to exchange opinions on internal political developments in Montenegro and Croatia, as well as on issues of regional and global importance.
