President of the Parliament of Montenegro hosts MPs from the German county Saxony-Anhalt

President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović today in Podgorica hosted MPs of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) from the German county Saxony-Anhalt - Mr Markus Kurze, Mr Ralf Geisthardt, Mr Daniel Sturm, Mr Detlef Gürth and Mr Siegfried Borgward, who are also and members of the Working group for federal and European affairs and media.

 

President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović expressed pleasure with the visit of the German MPs to the Parliament of Montenegro, emphasising that it was a great contribution to further strengthening of parliamentary cooperation between Montenegro and Germany, and sign of strong support to European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Montenegro.

The President of the Parliament of Montenegro stressed out that Germany has been continuously a promoter of European Union enlargement towards the Western Balkans, and expressed confidence that, regardless of the all national turbulences and challenges that the European Union is facing, it would keep highly on its agenda the enlargement policy, which is important for the Union credibility as well as for prosperity of the Western Balkans region. Mr Brajović stressed that, after the adoption of the Law on Ratification of the North Atlantic Treaty, Montenegro is even moe strongly devoted to persisting in its reform activities, in order to complete the process of accession negotiations in a good manner and become the next EU member state.

The interlocutors expressed satisfaction with bilateral relations between Montenegro and Germany and stressed that significant cooperation in the field of economy has been achieved, with a lot of potential for its improvement. Aside from developed cooperation and political dialogue at the federal level, President Brajović expressed interest in enhancing economic, cultural and scientific cooperation with the federal German counties. They jointly assessed that today’s visit by the German parliamentarians to the Parliament of Montenegro was a contribution to strengthening of interparliamentary cooperation, which should be continued in the future and result in new stronger models of its improvement.
