That is truly your holiday, because you have established it with your own vote, at the magnificent referendum on 21 May 2006. A dream was realised that day, that had been dreamed for 88 years, the dream of many generations in Montenegro before us.

The time that had passed confirmed the correctness of our decision.

Montenegro today is an internationally recognised, respected country. In a few days time we are to become a full member of NATO, we continue our journey towards the European Union, inheriting values of the civic, antifascist, multiethnic, multinational, multi-confessional Montenegro.

It is now important that all of our skills are aimed towards a strong economic development of our country, creating new values, especially to the fairer distribution of what was created. Once again, I congratulate the holiday to you, I congratulate the Independence Day of Montenegro.‟
