The interlocutors exchanged opinions on the overall reform process, political and economic situation and the pace of the European and Euro-Atlantic path of our country, which was exceptionally significant for the stability of the Western Balkans.
President Brajović voiced his conviction that, regardless of all the national turbulences and challenges faced by the European Union, the enlargement policy would remain high on its agenda, which was very significant for the credibility of the Union and long-term stability and prosperity of the Western Balkans region.
- Montenegro is completely devoted to working on membership to the EU, firmly committed to persevere in reform activities, in order to complete the pre-accession negotiation process in a quality manner and become the next member, emphasised President Brajović, pointing out that the latest public polls obliged to this, showing that 76% of the Montenegrin citizens would vote for the accession to the Union.
- NATO membership is the wind to our backs and Montenegro is completely ready to assume the responsibility of a new member state and continue towards the EU with a pace which is of higher quality and stronger, said Mr Brajović.
The interlocutors noted that the Parliament must be a key position of political dialogue as a central place of democratic decision-making, because it was in everybody’s interest to improve the life of the citizens of Montenegro and society as a whole.
In the end, President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović thanked European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Mr Johannes Hahn for the continuous support he had been giving to Montenegro in the overall process of its accession to the European Union.
