President of the Parliament of Montenegro hosts the Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia

President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr Ivan Brajović, hosted today in Podgorica the Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr Talat Xhaferi. Visit to Montenegro is the first international official parliamentary visit of the Speaker of the Assembly after taking office.

President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr Ivan Brajović, expressed his satisfaction with the visit of the Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr Xhaferi, sending a clear signal of political will and sincere intentions for continuing the best possible relations between Montenegro and Macedonia, and contributing to the further strengthening of the parliamentary cooperation of the two countries. He assessed the constitution of government in Macedonia as very significant, because internal stability was important for the continuation of necessary reforms in order to secure the European and Euro-Atlantic future.

President of the Parliament of Montenegro stressed that Montenegro, after becoming part of the NATO family, has tirelessly worked to achieve the standards necessary for EU membership, with a positive effect on the reform and integration processes in neighboring countries, primarily those that shared the vision of integration into the Euro-Atlantic Structures.

- We sincerely support the progress of all countries, especially our friends, such as Macedonia, on the path to NATO and the EU, and we are ready to provide all the necessary assistance and expertise, Mr Brajović said.

The interlocutors pointed out that Montenegro and Macedonia have a meaningful cooperation in various fields and have encouraged further development and increasing of cooperation, primarily in the area of economy, where there was still plenty of oportunity.

It was agreed that today's visit, at the very beginning of the term of office of the Speaker Xhaferi, was great contribution to further strengthening of inter-parliamentary cooperation, which developed excellently, both within the Friendship Group, and between Committees, with the belief that in the forthcoming period would develop new, practical models that would further improve at all levels.

The reception was attended by Vice-Presidents of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr Branimir Gvozdenović and Mr Genci Nimanbegu.
