MP Mr Obrad Mišo Stanišić, member of the Anti-Corruption Committee, meets with representative of the Council of Europe expert mission Mr Quentin Reed

MP Mr Obrad Mišo Stanišić, member of the Anti-Corruption Committee, met with representative of the Council of Europe expert mission Mr Quentin Reed.

 

Within the framework of the Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey - Action against Economic Crime in Montenegro, the Council of Europe has organised expert visit of Mr Quentin Reed to Montenegro, with the aim of assessing the implementation of the Code of Ethics for MPs and the provisions of the Law on Prevention of Corruption related to conflict of interest among MPs, bearing in mind the responsibilities of the Anti-corruption Committee, its control function and role in establishing the anti-corruption legislation.

MP Mr Obrad Mišo Stanisić informed representatives of the expert mission about activities conducted by the Anti-corruption Committee in the previous Convocation. He emphasised a special importance and role of the Committee in establishing the Agency for Prevention of Corruption, which started working on 1 January 2016. Mr Stanišić said that every suggestion and constructive proposal can be extremely useful to this youngest working body of the Parliament of Montenegro.

The representative of the expert mission indicated the development of guidelines for the MPs concerning conflict of interest, which would include the Law on Prevention of Corruption, Code of Ethics for MPs and Law on Lobbying, and they should be finished by the end of February 2017.
