Security and Defence Committee held its 28th Meeting today where it considered the Proposal for the strategy on national security of Montenegro. In the presence of the Minister of Defence and Director General of Directorate for Defence Policy, the Committee learned about basic orientation of national and security policy, national security interests and goals, elements of national security policy, strategic and regional background of the national security, security challenges, risks and threats, structure, developments, elements of crisis management and resources necessary for the functioning of the system, contained in the Proposal for the strategy on national security of Montenegro.
In the context of the debate on the main pre-conditions for successful implementation of the Strategy on national security, the Committee supported the presented guidelines with regard to definition of crisis management systems, regulation of emergency reserves, regulation of critical infrastructure issues, harmonisation of the Law on Defence and the Law on the Army of Montenegro, and regulations in the field of electronic communications.
After the conducted discussion, with the conclusion that the adoption and implementation of the said document create conditions for making democratic, safe, prosperous and internationally recognised state, the Committee proposed to the Parliament, by a majority of votes, to adopt the Proposal for the strategy on national security of Montenegro.
