Meeting Mr Stanišić - Mr Nagy held

Underlined willingness for improving cooperation of parliamentary committees on security and defence of the two countries

Chairperson of the Security and Defence Committee Mr Obrad Mišo Stanišić today has met newly-appointed Ambassador of Romania to Montenegro Mr Ferdinand Nagy, who conveyed the initiative by Chairperson of the Committee for Defence Public Order, and National Security of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies with the aim of sharing experiences and best practices of the two parliamentary bodies.

Chairperson of the Committee Mr Obrad Mišo Stanišić informed the Ambassador about responsibilities and results of the working body he chairs, and assessed Romania’s support to Montenegro on its path to NATO as particularly important. The same goes for the European integration road, particularly in light of current Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union 

The meeting, inter alia, discussed the current security situation in the region and abroad, whereby the interlocutors assessed that cooperation and solidarity among allies contribute to peace and stability both at the Western Balkans region and globally.

They jointly emphasised that Montenegro and Romania had excellent bilateral relations and confirmed willingness to further promote cooperation within parliamentary dimension, with special reference on cooperation of the working bodies dealing with defence and security sector.
